Tonight, on David Broncano’s ‘La Resistencia’ program, the guests were Carlos Peguer and Mariang Maturana, known for their successful Spanish podcast ‘La Pija y la Quinqui’. Earning praise for its conversational and innovative format, this podcast has gained widespread popularity since its debut in January 2022.
“These kids are competition,” says Broncano. “They present one of the best podcasts in Europe,” he said when giving way to the couple of presenters. “I’m worried about the people who thought they came to see celebrities today and we show up,” commented Carlos Peguer before taking a seat on the “bed” of ‘La Resistencia’. ‘La Pija y la Quinqui’ interviewed Pedro Sánchez, something that the Movistar Plus program has not been able to achieve. As a gift, Carlos and Mariang brought a jar of pickles for Broncano and his team.
Carlos Peguer and Mariang Maturana have visited ‘La Resistencia’ to promote their podcast, ‘La Pija y la Quinqui’.
“You are my natural predator. It’s a little tense because you can overtake me on the right,” David Broncano joked. “You have lived through the pesetas and 9/11,” added the presenter, not considering them so young. Mariang, 98 and from Cartagena (Murcia), and Carlos, 99 and from San Benito (Badajoz) chatted casually with Broncano, from anecdotes about their places of origin to his physical evolution.
The fashionable couple of Spanish podcasts were encouraged to answer the classic questions from ‘La Resistencia’. Regarding the money in the bank, Carlos Peguer wanted to clarify: “We have been making profits for a very short time.” On a personal note, he added: “I should have a lot more, but I love to spend. It’s my passion!”. ‘La Pija’ offered a precise figure of 55,000 euros. Mariang Maturana, for her part, assured that her sum was less: “I have a little less, 40,000 euros.”
Regarding sexual relations in the last month, Carlos Peguer stated: “I have written them down in a note, although it has been a complicated month. “I have had a lot of work this month and there should have been more.” Peguer added a total of 10 times. ‘La Quinqui, for her part, responded: “I lose in money and win in sex. “About 15 intercourse.”
The presenters, Carlos and Mariang, met in 2014 through Twitter and later collaborated as scriptwriters on radio and television programs. In their podcast, ‘La Pija y la Quinqui’, they have interviewed prominent figures such as Rosalía, Pedro Sánchez, Sebastián Yatra, and Martiño Rivas, among others.
Its style of talk and personal conversation has resonated with the public, and in 2023, the program won the prestigious Idol award for ‘Best Podcast of the Year’.
