Instagram’s parent company Meta has extended the ‘Share to Reels’ feature to all developers, allowing them to integrate this tool into their third-party apps. In November 2022, tests were already carried out with some video applications such as Smule, Zoomerang or VivaVideo, among others. Now its availability has been expanded to allow all users to export content from these applications and share it as a ‘reel’, as confirmed by the company in an official statement published on its corporate blog.

Once integrated, “third-party apps will have a Reels button, so people can share videos with just one tap.” This eliminates the need to download content and upload it to the platform, saving time and making sharing more accessible. Additionally, once people share their videos, they will be able to customize them with Reels editing tools such as audio, stickers, effects, among other options.

By allowing ‘Share on Reels’ integration, apps can increase their brand awareness, improve organic traffic, and provide more efficient service to users. Apps that have already adopted this functionality have seen a significant increase in sharing activity and positive response from the community.

The integration of ‘Sharing on Reels’ represents a continuous effort by Meta to improve the experience of its users and increase the interconnection of its services, and they ensure that this new function will have benefits for users:
