Álvaro Muñoz Escassi is a figure known for his extensive career on horseback. In addition to taking first place in the ranking of show jumpers, he won a Spanish Polo Championship with the Bisontes de Santander. Years later, he would leave horse riding aside for television, becoming a regular on competitions and reality shows starring celebrities. Currently, he participates in the eighth edition for celebrities of MasterChef.

It was precisely in the last program of the current version that the Sevillian was the protagonist of a surprising question. In recent installments, MasterChef Celebrity has become a hotbed of viral moments on television. Be it culinary gaffes, off-color statements or discussions of all kinds, there is always a moment outside the competition to comment on on social networks. This has happened with Escassi and Florentino Fernández.

The rider was proclaimed winner of the individual test at the last gala, held this past Thursday. While cooking near Eduardo Casanova, the actor who played Fidel in Aída was questioned by Flo and Pepe Rodríguez, as is usual in the contest. When asked about his partner’s choice of ingredients, the man from Madrid pronounced the name of the Sriracha sauce as “salchipapa”, which gave rise to the unexpected question.

“Is it true that you were involved with Leticia Sabater?” Fernández questioned Escassi. All in reference to Salchipapa, one of the songs that the former television presenter published annually in recent years. The Sevillian had to make sure of the person he was referring to, at the same time that Casanova took Sabater’s side: “What are you saying! Be careful with Leticia Sabater, I want to make a strong defense, long live the absurdity.”

In a behind-the-scenes video fragment, Escassi reiterated that she had not had any relationship with whoever was a presenter of children’s programs throughout the 90s. “I know her. She is a friend of mine, but I have never, I have never gotten involved with her. No, no, with Leticia, she would never remember me,” she expressed. Some statements that returned Sabater to the front page of the news, after being the victim of an unpleasant incident last week in Blanes.

While she was performing, a man lunged at her on stage and tried to kiss her repeatedly without her consent. The public reacted immediately after realizing that the situation was degenerating into sexual assault, booing the aggressor before he ended up going down. In statements to Socialité, the artist assured that she often invited the public to the stage in a festive tone, but on this occasion the limits were exceeded.
