About 50 people already unconvened – according to sources from Barcelona City Council – have occupied the entrance of an Israeli-owned hotel in the Barcelona district of Ciutat Vella this Saturday under the slogan ‘Let’s stop the genocide in Gaza’.

As reported in a statement by several popular movements such as the CUP, Samidoun and Sindicat de Llogateres, among others, the Cortes hotel “is owned by the Israeli magnate Haim Tsuff, number 42 on the list of the richest people in Israel, involved in the complex industrial-military, with businesses in the oil, infrastructure, construction and real estate sectors.

The action “denounces the impunity for the genocide against thousands of Palestinians” and is part of the rally called this Saturday at 6 p.m. in Barcelona under the slogan ‘Let’s stop the genocide in Palestine, stop the arms trade with Israel.’

The statement pointed out that starting at 12 noon a concert was held, poems were read and hotel flags such as those of the European Union and Spain were exchanged for Palestinian flags “as a protest”, and among the demonstrators was the CUP deputy in Parliament Carles Riera.

In the manifesto, the groups have called for “direct action against the economic interests of the Israeli regime, until the perpetration of crimes against humanity becomes too expensive.”
