Today the trial began in Thailand against Daniel Sancho, accused of murdering and dismembering the body of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta on the island of Koh Pha Ngan last August. Since then, Rodolfo Sancho’s son has remained in Koh Samui prison awaiting the trial, which could last a month.
Furthermore, these next four weeks will be key for the future of the Spanish chef who could face the death penalty, since the Thai Prosecutor’s Office accuses him of premeditated murder and concealment of evidence. In the middle of this high-profile judicial process are Daniel’s parents, Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo, who have been by his son’s side for eight months, despite not having a cordial relationship.
Likewise, the Spanish actor, who has barely wanted to speak publicly about his son’s case, surprised everyone by granting an interview in the new HBO Max docuseries, The Sancho Case, whose first episode was released this Tuesday. In this first installment, Rodolfo Sancho revealed that Silvia Bronchalo discovered the tragic event much later than him.
While Rodolfo Sancho discovered the crime thanks to his brother, who sent him the shocking news that same August 5, Silvia Bronchalo was aware of everything through her ex-partner and father of her son. ”She took a while to tell me what was happening. I ended up asking him: ”But is he alive?”, declares the actor. Regarding how he told his ex-partner, Sancho confessed the following: ”I tell you, this has happened and your eyes are wide open. I tell you. She reacts. She has a reaction of absolute stupefaction.’
A confession that left Daniel Sancho’s mother completely shocked, since she could not imagine that her son’s trip to Thailand had ended with this tragic event. At that time, the ex-couple did not have a very close relationship either, but they decided to join forces to support their only child in common. However, the situation took a radical turn when it came to light that the mother of the alleged murderer had filed a complaint against the interpreter in which she accused him of having sent her several WhatsApp messages “insulting and harassing her.”
