The members of the British band Massive Attack declared themselves “devastated” on Tuesday by the death of their guitarist, Angelo Bruschini, who announced in July that he was suffering from lung cancer.

“It’s impossible to quantify your contribution to the Massive Attack canon. How lucky we were to share a life like that,” the band said on the social network X.

The group formed in the 1980s and reached number one in the UK with the albums Mezzanine and 100th Window, as well as winning a Brit Award in 1996 and other British music accolades.

Bruschini wrote on Facebook last summer: “The specialists at the hospital have already told me ‘good luck’ twice about my lung cancer, I think I’m screwed.”

“I had a great life, I saw the world many, many times, I met many wonderful people, but the door is closing, I think I will write a book,” added the musician.
