A Formula E car caught fire in the pit and garage area this Tuesday at the Ricardo Tormo Circuit, in Cheste (Valencia), during a break from training in this motorsport category and led to the cancellation of the session.

Different crews from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium were mobilized this noon, around 1:00 p.m., to the fire to finish extinguishing the fire and checking hot spots since firefighters from the same circuit initially acted.

Subsequently, the Consortium crews remained preventively in the area to avoid risks, while the circuit staff took charge of removing some lithium batteries that were in the affected area.

In addition, the CICU has reported that a SAMU unit has been mobilized, as a preventive measure, to the Cheste Circuit due to the fire in the garage of a team, although the unit has withdrawn shortly after without its medical team. have had to provide any assistance.

The circuit has reported that Formula E, the FIA ??and local fire authorities are investigating the cause and will provide more information in due course.

Following today’s incident, the FIA ??has informed Formula E and all teams that on-track activities have been canceled for the remainder of the day until the facility returns to safe working conditions.
