The way Spaniards view Eurovision has changed significantly in recent years. What until then had been a decade of months and low positions, took a 180 degree turn with Chanel and SloMo, catapulting it to third position. She was the first winner of the renewed Benidorm Fest, the national selection that RTVE recovered with the intention of changing the negative dynamics of the previous editions.

Although Blanca Paloma’s Eaea did not succeed as expected this year, the festival continues its course and has already closed registration for its third edition. During the 147 days that the reception of proposals has remained open, a total of 825 songs reached the bases of Spanish Television. The final decision on the final 16 contestants will be made on November 11, during the Latin Grammy gala to be held in Seville.

And despite not having performed this year, a well-known Spanish artist has hinted that she could participate in future editions. Mundo Deportivo has spoken with Chenoa about this option and her upcoming musical projects, after the artist announced the release of new music before the end of the year. The Mallorcan singer occupies a busy lifestyle before the end of 2023, presenting the new edition of Operación Triunfo on Prime Video.

“The best one day I say, well maybe yes. You never know. I love music in each of its forms and every platform seems great to me. Be it Operación Triunfo or Benidorm Fest,” expressed the former Operación Triunfo contestant. In fact, Chenoa already has experience in a very similar format. In 2003, the production company Endemol created a great space with which to compete with the best triumphs of its more than 30 adaptations: the Eurobest.

As La Razón recalled in an article published in 2018, the Eurobest special was co-produced by Endemol and the French company TF1, broadcast on March 25, 2003 from the Cannes Palace of Festivals and Congresses. The gala had luxury guests such as Mariah Carey or Tom Jones, and a format similar to that of the great song festival: each artist had to perform one of the versions of original songs that they had already sung during their stages in Operación Triunfo.

Chenoa appeared in Cannes with It’s Raining Men by The Weather Girls under the watchful eye of Àngel Llàcer, who was the judge representing Spain. The Mallorcan would end up beating France and the United Kingdom with 143 points in a gala that, surprisingly, was not broadcast on RTVE. It could not even be seen live, being released on a delayed basis through Canal OT, which at that time was included in Canal Satélite Digital.
