A few days ago, Aída Doménech, known in the digital community as Dulceida, and her wife, Alba Paul Ferrer, announced that in a few months they will welcome their first baby together. A highly desired son or daughter, who fills future mothers with excitement and who, despite the fact that they have already had to face the first homophobic and hateful comments on social networks.
Trying to turn a deaf ear to everything that clouds their happiness, the couple has been commenting on some details about the process they are experiencing for several days, in which their followers have become interested. On this occasion, Alba answered questions related to how the method chosen to achieve pregnancy, known as ROPA, gave them the desired positive result.
One of the main advantages of this assisted reproduction technique is that both women can participate in some way in the pregnancy process. In her case, as Alba explains, it was she who prepared and performed the treatment for the extraction of eggs, which would later be fertilized to form embryos. Chosen the best, the transfer was made to Dulceida’s uterus.
Dulceida herself revealed it last week in her Instagram Stories, confirming that the embryo she was carrying had been fertilized from an egg from her wife. “I carried the egg from Alba and we are very lucky because it was the first time,” she said.
Thus, it will be Dulceida who experiences the pregnancy, while the reproductive cell corresponds to Alba. That is, the future baby will only have Alba Paul’s genetic material, although in this way, both parts of the couple participate in the process and ensure that they develop a maternal bond with the future baby.
Regarding the decision of who would be responsible for which part of the process, Alba acknowledges that it was “very easy” to assume each of their roles. “Honestly, I really want to be a mother, but Aída has always had that desire to feel what it’s like to be pregnant, to have the baby in there… And the truth is that, seeing myself with my belly, That part… It’s hard for me. The truth is, she’s happy. And I am,” she says.
The couple confirms that they are 13 weeks along. “She’s the size of a chick or a kiwi,” says Alba, very excited. From now on, she will rest and take care of herself. They confirm that they will have a “small party, with our people” to reveal the sex of the baby, although they both want her to be a girl – although if a boy arrives, he will be more than welcome. “The important thing is that whatever it is, it is super good,” adds Dulceida. “Especially because I want to start buying things,” says Alba, while Aída laughs.
