Just seven days ago, Semana magazine surprised everyone and everyone with José María Almoguera, the discreet son of Carmen Borrego, posing on its cover with his ex-wife Paola Olmedo. Both announced not only their separation, but also pointed to Carmen as “guilty” of her disagreements.
This week, Carmen responds again in the same publication, claiming to be “hurt” with her first-born, with whom the disagreements have returned. However, from Lecturas they dare to point out the real culprit of this war between mother and son and no, it is not Paola Olmedo, but someone much closer to both: Francisco Almoguera, father of her children José María and Carmen, with whom she married in 1989 and divorced in 1997.
As explained in the aforementioned publication, mother and son have had a distant relationship for many years and the origin of their disagreements would come from the same moment of the collaborator’s separation from her ex-husband, José María Almoguera.
“It’s very hard to feel that my son doesn’t love me,” laments Carmen, who was precisely afraid of receiving her son’s scorn with such cruelty publicly. The collaborator also seems to have a theory that her 33-year-old son could be being “manipulated” by her father. “In my son’s life there are too many orchestrated things and this is one of them,” she stated as soon as she learned of the existence of these statements.
It is not the first time that Carmen expresses these doubts about her ex-husband. She already did it with her sister, Terelu Campos, just a few days ago, when she confessed that behind the interview with her son “she is behind her.” At that time, many did not name that person – or it was mistakenly thought that it could have been Paola Olmedo herself, with whom Carmen does not have the best relationship.
“It is my son who has hurt me, but he is my son,” said the collaborator on her return to television after her time on Survivors. “I have to say that, as a mother, I am also a survivor,” said Carmen.
“My son is poorly advised,” she added, although avoiding talking about her ex-husband, as she has always done. “I have never spoken nor will I, because he is an anonymous person who has not been in my life for many years,” she explained, although not without clarifying that it seemed very good to her that her son defended him.
After the divorce in 1997, the relationship between Carmen Borrego and Francisco Almoguera has not been exactly cordial, but both managed to put aside their differences during the marriage of their son with Paola Olmedo, knowing how to maintain manners and respecting the most important day of their first-born. Francisco Almoguera, however, avoided at all times the cameras that immortalized the exclusive that Lecturas later published.
Francisco Almoguera has always remained in a discreet background. Linked to the world of the media, he currently works as a news producer for Radio Nacional de España, but he also became deputy director of Interactive Information at RTVE and, later, director of Programs and New Formats at Canal 24 Horas. Still, he hates television cameras.
Even so, if Carmen is clear about one thing, it is that her eldest son has decided to “sacrifice” her to save his marriage with the Argentine woman. “If this happens so that my son can solve the problems with his wife… his happiness matters more to me now than mine.”
