The president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragonés, from ERC, will tomorrow attend the gala dinner for the presentation of the literary prizes of the 52nd edition of the October Awards held in Valencia. It is not the first time that a Catalan president attends October. In the past, former presidents Jordi Pujol (CDC) and Pascual Maragall (PSC) also participated in the gala.

A total of 121 works choose to win the Andròmina prize for narrative, 127 original works aspire to the Vicent Andrés Estellés prize for poetry, 35 for the Joan Fuster essay prize and 66 for the Pere Capella theater prize. The works, as is characteristic of this competition organized by Editorial Tres i Quatre, have been presented by authors “from all Catalan countries”.

This 52nd edition of the October Awards will serve to pay tribute to Al Tall, the Valencian musical group founded in 1975 by Vicent Torrent, Miquel Gil, Manolo Miralles and Manolo Lledó. “Its emergence represented a renewal of popular and traditional music in the Valencian Country,” the organization emphasizes. Over almost four decades, Al Tall has been a reference for several generations. “To the point that, with the political change to the Valencian institutions with the last elections, the Spanish right has removed the name of Vicent Torrent from the Torrent auditorium,” the statement adds.
