The coast of Acapulco, as well as the rest of the Mexican Pacific coast, has suffered in recent days the terrible consequences of Hurricane Otis: torrential rains, wind gusts of up to 330 km/h and dangerous waves up to 10 meters high.
Due to adverse weather conditions, countless infrastructures have been damaged, causing people in many areas of the territory to be left without Internet, electricity or running water. The situation resulting from the storm is so critical that, so far, there are 27 deaths, several missing and more than a million people incommunicado.
Among the million people who remain incommunicado is the in-laws of the singer Shaila Dúrcal, who is happily married to the Mexican Dorio Ferreira. The artist’s sister, Carmen Morales, spoke to the press and told some details of the distressing moment they are going through.
”My brother-in-law’s parents live in Acapulco and they have not had communication since Hurricane Otis occurred. “They haven’t known if they are okay or not for more than 24 hours,” she said, really worried.
”They want to go there next week because of this, because there is no communication and they want to help because Acapulco is destroyed,” Morales added, making it clear that they are experiencing a very frustrating situation due to the impossibility of communication.
According to Rocío Dúrcal’s daughter, the last time her sister spoke with her mother-in-law she told her that they were all very ”scared” and the call was cut off. ”She is very overwhelmed, the truth is very desperate, especially having communication to know that they are okay, I hope that is the case because the images of the city are horrific,” she said, visibly sad when she attended the Europa Press microphones at an event the capital of Madrid.
Morales took the opportunity to take stock of his life, since a year ago he made one of the most important decisions of his existence: separating from businessman Luis Guerra after more than 11 years of marriage.
“You have to remake your life, readjust yourself. Being married to a person for 12 years plus dating… which in total has been 15. So, readjustment is the famous ‘redoing your life’, but on a sentimental level it doesn’t come into play. my head for nothing. Rebuilding my life is readjusting everything to the present,” said the actress. Although they are no longer a couple, for Morales her ex will always be “family”: “That will never change.”
