Hidden from the media, the singer Enrique Iglesias is extremely reserved about his private life. But this week he was encouraged to break his own rule of not talking about his family. Married to ex-tennis player Anna Kúrnikova, the couple has three children, twins Lucy and Nicholas, five years old, and Mary, three years old.
He has been in an interview with People magazine, in which the singer, who is on tour with The trilogy tour with his colleagues Pitbull and Ricky Martin, has revealed some details of his family life and love story with Anna Kúrnikova, which has been going on for 21 years.
“You learn on the go. You have good times and bad times, and if you can overcome the bad times, you will get to the really good ones,” admits Iglesias, 48 ??years old. “A lot of people say, ‘Oh, well, I know this is the person I’m going to be with for the rest of my life.’ I agree with that, but at the same time, you never know where life will take you and what might happen.” In this statement, many have wanted to see that the Bailando performer does not close the door to the fact that, at some point, his story with the ex-athlete could end.
The couple met in 2001, during the shooting of the video clip for Escape. From that moment they began their love story, which continues to this day. As he explained in the interview, this way of getting to know each other meant a “milestone” that changed his life “in a way he could not even imagine”.
Iglesias explained that he and Kúrnikova, 42, “grew up” together under the spotlight and public scrutiny, which helped create a solid foundation. “When we met, even though she came from the world of sports, in a way we understood each other. She knew what my world was like. I knew what his world was like. Therefore, this understanding helped us a lot”, he revealed.
Now, more than two decades later, he is proud of the life they have built together for their three children.
