The first budgets of the Generalitat Valenciana with an executive from the PP and Vox for 2024 grow by 4.6% compared to the previous year, with a left-wing government, to 29,732 million euros. The latest Botànic budget increased compared to 2022 by 1.7% to 28,438.
The Minister of Finance and spokesperson for the Consell, Ruth Merino, has pointed out that these are “real budgets, not based on announcements or promises that are not fulfilled, we are not going to lie to citizens, and that they must serve to reverse the situation.” “There have been no internal conflicts or shocks, with an atmosphere of harmony and complicity,” she added.
The Minister of Finance has spoken of a critical financial situation. The debt reaches 57,000 million euros. It has gone from 40,063 to 57,246, 17.1% more. The councilor has criticized the exorbitant growth of debt interest, which this year has grown by 112%, from 412 million euros to 870 million.
The total cost of debt grows by 20% to reach 7,948 million euros, 1,341 million more than in the previous year. He has also spoken of the deficit that reaches the figure of 3,860 million euros in 2022.
He has denounced the situation of “uncertainty” due to the lack of data from the Government of Spain. “The Government has not informed us of the payments on account or the liquidation of the SFA.” And also that “it has not approved the budget stability objectives of deficit and debt for 2024 or the spending ceiling.”
The budgets foresee a reduction in spending in the public sector of 7.74%, reducing it from 4,174 million euros to 3,851 million. “It’s the beginning,” said Merino.
AIREF estimates income of 12,798 million euros and a settlement of 2,719 million. European funds predict a 54% reduction in income compared to 2023, from 1,163 in 2023 to 530 in 2024.
