Ben Affleck is one of the most recognized actors on the American acting scene. The Berkeley native has participated in hundreds of television and film productions over 40 years, being one of the most seen faces in Hollywood today. His love life has also been the subject of news, particularly his relationship with Jennifer Lopez, after meeting in 2021 and getting married in 2022.

Before that reconciliation, the actor was married to Jennifer Garner and had three children: Violet, Fin and Samuel. Fin is, this week, the one who has received the most attention from the media, by making his transition public. It was during the funeral of his grandfather William John Garner, when he introduced himself under this name and spoke a few words in honor of the deceased. Thousands of people were able to witness the event through a Facebook live stream.

“Hello, my name is Fin Affleck,” was his first sentence when he stepped up to the lectern. Fin appeared on stage in a black suit, tie and shaved hair, thus confirming the rumors that had circulated about his transition for several weeks. The family listened carefully to his words in honor of his grandfather, before leaving the stage. A symbolic gesture in a very hard day for those attending.

Back to the Affleck-Lopez couple, their love story has been complicated over the years. Popularly known as Bennifer, they were one of the most talked about celebrity couples in the early 2000s. However, their breakup in 2003 was even more notorious and analyzed under a magnifying glass by journalists and experts in the world of the heart. A fact that was attributed to the great pressure that fell on their backs.

“Ben and I broke up three days before our wedding. “We had a big wedding planned and three days before, we just crumbled under the pressure,” J.Lo confessed in The Greatest Love Story Never Told, a Prime Video documentary that recounts what happened after their engagement in November 2002. He himself Ben Affleck said the reason was “the enormous amount of scrutiny surrounding his private life.”

“During all those years, it was very difficult because not only did I feel like I lost the love of my life, but I felt like I lost the best friend I ever had. And I couldn’t speak for so many years, and that was the most difficult part,” the singer commented throughout the documentary, where both acknowledged that this breakup led them to take separate trips of self-discovery, before returning together in 2021.
