An anthropologist, who was shopping in a second-hand store in Florida, was surprised when he found in the section dedicated to Halloween a skull that, according to the expert, was authentic and human.

The surprising discovery occurred this Saturday in a store in the city of North Fort Myers, on the southwest coast of Florida. Detectives have confirmed the suspicion of the American anthropologist, whose name did not wish to be disclosed, that the skull did indeed belong to a human.

The owner of the store, in public statements in defense of the controversial and intriguing situation in which he has been involved, assures that the skull had been in his warehouse for years.

The sheriff, Carmine Marceno, uploaded several photographs of the skull placed on the glass of a display case to social networks and expressed his surprise at the discovery.

Police authorities do not consider this to be a “suspicious or criminal case” and, therefore, it is unknown if anyone will face charges in relation to the discovery of the skull. At this time, the investigation is working with the county medical examiner to perform several tests on the skull to try to find out the identity of the person.

According to Florida law, “no person may knowingly offer to buy or sell… any human organ or tissue in exchange for valuable consideration,” according to the CBSMiami channel.
