Hello good morning!

The PSOE-Junts pact announced yesterday to unblock the investiture of Pedro Sánchez aims to resolve the “historic conflict” in the Spain-Catalonia relationship. Almost nothing. For now, tension is skyrocketing in Spain.

What was signed in the pact between the PSOE and Junts in Brussels points far: the commitment to support the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, the amnesty, recognize the historical origin of the conflict… In practice it is limited to amnesty and negotiation table.

The protest against it is broad. Parties, the judiciary, civil servant unions and more put their hands on their heads. “Cries of uprising in Madrid,” is summarized. And altercations on the seventh consecutive night of protest in front of the socialist headquarters.

The positive aspects of the pact are highlighted by former president José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, today, in La Vanguardia. He believes that “the amnesty normalizes political dialogue” and that “the PSOE and Junts have signed a great State pact.” He gives it historical perspective.

Is Iran acting in Spain? Along with all the tension surrounding the pact between the PSOE and the independentists, also yesterday a gunman shot the politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras in Madrid. He is out of danger. The surprise: his relationship with Iran is being investigated.

The humanitarian pauses that the US had announced in Israel’s offensive on Gaza end up being devalued by Tel Aviv. Everything still looks so bleak that the mayor of the de facto Palestinian capital, Ramallah, tells this newspaper: “Another October 7 is possible.”

Confidence in the country is largely measured by the economy and the fact that foreign investors replace the ECB at the top of the ranking among the owners of the State debt says it all. Individuals, likewise, acquire record numbers of debt.

Football is not everything, and that is why it is time to highlight Toni Bou, trials rider, 34-time world champion!, about whom many ask “who is he?” Interviewed here, he tells his secret to 17 years of hegemony. He wants to reach 40 titles by the age of 40, in no time.

Richard Threlfall, global head of infrastructure at KPMG. “Only from the cities will we successfully confront climate change.” Read it here.

The Pinotxo Bar was an institution in Barcelona’s Boqueria market that now returns to the not-too-distant and renovated Sant Antoni market. A good excuse to compare past and present.

Premiere day. It’s Friday and it’s time to review the movie premieres even if the irregular wins this week. There are films “to watch with your mother-in-law.” Others lead us to wonder: “all because of a few leaks”? But the highlight is a documentary about the Singla.

Neom, in Saudi Arabia, is, already, something never seen before in urban megaprojects… The construction in a long and narrow line on the edge of the Red Sea, ecological as well as intelligent, still has little to show but the Saudi leader pledges his authority to it.

Pere Ferré, jazz pianist. “I’ve been playing jazz on the piano for 72 years, I’m a diplodocus!” Read it here.
