On Monday, the Mossos d’Esquadra arrested a woman and a man, aged 51 and 47 respectively, as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with violence at home and a crime of bank fraud.
The events date back to last month, on March 7, when a violent robbery occurred at a home on Isona street in Lleida, in the Bordeta neighborhood.
According to police, early in the morning a woman called the intercom posing as a delivery girl carrying a package.
The neighbor, 80 years old, opened the door and the supposed delivery girl, covered with a mask, asked for her documentation. At the moment of turning away from her, the woman placed a knife on her neck, she entered her home, threatened her and demanded money.
The victim gave money and the bank book to the assailant, as well as the security code for the books. Immediately afterwards, the false delivery girl fled the scene accompanied by a man who was waiting for her on the street.
The victim, who was unharmed, went to the bank to report the theft of the notebooks and saw that they had already made a first withdrawal from an account worth 2,000 euros. Later, in the following days, despite having discharged the release, she saw that four other money withdrawals had been made, at ATMs in Lleida, Juneda and Arbeca, for an amount of 8,000 euros. In total, with the money withdrawals at the ATMs and the cash they took on the day of the assault, the thieves stole more than 10,000 euros
The police investigation came to the conclusion that the author somehow knew the layout of the apartment since, while she had the victim by the neck, she took her directly to the room and the place where she kept the money. In addition, they found that last year he had also stolen money from her account and the woman had always suspected a caregiver she had for her who no longer worked for her. In fact, the assailant, despite being very covered, had an appearance and build very similar to that of the victim’s former caregiver.
The investigation, led by agents from the Lleida Investigation Unit, made it possible to identify the two alleged perpetrators of the robbery and bank scams. The woman, in fact, turned out to be the person who had worked for the victim.
Last Monday, around 2:30 p.m., the two alleged assailants were arrested in Les Borges Blanques. Both arrestees, of whom the man has a criminal record, were brought to justice before the investigating court on duty in Lleida.
