The general secretary of the PSOE in Ponferrada, Olegario Ramón, has blamed Vox and the PP’s whitewashing of the extreme right for the attack he suffered yesterday late afternoon by a man who was demonstrating with other people in front of the headquarters of his party in the city of Bercia.

In an interview on TVE’s La Hora, Ramón explained that “the origin of the tension” is in “the extreme right” and that the PP “whitewashes it in many institutions.” “Let’s not be equidistant”, he asked.

The former mayor has assured that the attack “could be seen coming”, and has regretted the inconvenience that the protests cause for the neighbors. Furthermore, he has assured that his autonomous community is “the experiment of the extreme right”, where PP and Vox govern. “And well we suffered it,” he added.

As can be seen in a video broadcast on social networks, the also president of the Bierzo Regional Council and former mayor of Ponferrada was shaken and attacked by this person, who was waving a Spanish flag and kicked him several times when he left the headquarters of the party, after holding a meeting with the municipal mayors of the party.

The former mayor has recounted what the attack was like: “When I bent down to pick up the cell phone, he came up behind me and kicked me.” In addition, he has called “for calm and to reduce tension.”

The neighbors who saw the attack asked for help from the Police, which was done immediately and the officers identified the perpetrator of the attack and other protesters who had continued to utter threatening slogans after the altercation, as explained by Olegario Ramón himself in statements to the Chain Being.

Ramón later went to a health center to have his condition checked and filed a complaint at the police station. The former mayor has stated that he has “a small wound on his leg” and “difficulty closing a finger on his hand.”

The residents of the area denounce that since the processing of the Amnesty Law began, the concentrations in front of the PSOE headquarters are daily and are carried out by people with an aggressive attitude.

The Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE has condemned the attack by two individuals who “participated in the far-right rally held daily” in front of the headquarters.

“The daily accusations made by the extreme right and its related pseudo-media have ended up leading to a physical attack this afternoon, but there are already hundreds of graffiti on the headquarters, breaking of windows and insults to the people who access the houses of the people,” the PSOE wrote in a statement on the social network

Several important charges have also condemned the attack. Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, president of the Regional Government of Castilla y León, has expressed his “strongest condemnation of this act of violence” and has sent Ramón all his “support and affection.” The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, has reacted to the attack through his X profile: “This is what they are promoting in this country, on a daily and constant basis.”

The vice president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Juan García-Gallardo, has also condemned through his account on the social network “Opposition, all. Violence, zero,” added García-Gallardo.
