The National Police have arrested a 43-year-old man in Telde, Gran Canaria, with a criminal record as the alleged perpetrator of the theft of a sports wheelchair, valued at around 5,000 euros, as reported by the Higher Police Headquarters.

The events date back to the month of September when the National Police of Telde received a complaint from an Italian citizen who was enjoying a few days on the island of Gran Canaria and indicated that he was a person with a disability, who needed a wheelchair, according to the police force in press release

The owner of the chair reported that he had left the chair next to the rental vehicle he was using while he was resting in the La Garita area. It was then that he saw a man who was looking for belongings in a nearby container and who, as he passed by where he was, stole his wheelchair. The injured party also provided images of the wheelchair, a model adapted for sports valued at 5,000 euros.

The investigations carried out by the agents of the Telde Police Station made it possible to identify the alleged perpetrator of the theft and recover the chair, which will be returned to its owner as soon as he returns to Gran Canaria.
