What is the origin of these lines in the fields that I have photographed for La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos near the town of Conill, in Urgell? Who or what made them?

The answer must be found in the rabbits, which are responsible for causing these marks as they pass through these terrains. And not only that, in this series of snapshots we can also see the numerous burrows they have made in the margins of the fields.

A few meters before reaching their burrows you can see the trace of the damage that the rabbits do in the planted fields of Urgell.

For the farmers of the lands of Lleida, the rabbit is a lifeless thing, given the problems it is causing them. So much so that this year the Generalitat began a pilot test with a vertical network located in the affected agricultural properties to try to put an end to the rabbit plague that affects several parts of the Lleida regions.

Conill is a small, now unpopulated town near the city of Tàrrega, about 7 km away. It is located in Plans de Sió, a subregion of the Segarra plateau, on whose plains crop fields are common, located at about 350 meters above sea level. The closest towns are the towns of Claravalls, La Figuerosa and Altet.
