After the investiture debate, in which the votes of Esquerra Republicana and Junts per Catalunya joined those of the PSOE to allow the re-election of Pedro Sánchez, the time has come to mark distances, delimit the playing field and prevent future problems. The two sovereignist forces yesterday honored the proverb – prevention is better than cure – and warned the President of the Government that it is now up to him to comply with what was agreed so that the legislature advances smoothly.

“Now it is time to comply with the agreed agreements, such as the transfer of Rodalies, the economic improvements and the amnesty,” said the president of the Generalitat, Pere Aragonès, just after the vote in the Congress of Deputies, who assured that his party, ERC, It will be “demanding” from the first moment.

“In this new phase it is time to move forward in the resolution of the political conflict with the State and the well-being of all Catalans,” added the head of the Catalan Executive in a message on the social network X – formerly Twitter –.

The leader of JxCat in Madrid, Míriam Nogueras, expressed a similar line, who on Wednesday, mid-afternoon, warned the socialists that they did not like the tone of Sánchez’s initial speech and found him “arrogant” for talking about forgiveness. In any case, the situation was remedied, and her group ended up saying yes in the first vote and did not extend the suspense after considering that Sánchez had rectified his response that afternoon.

The post-convergent deputy stressed yesterday that the legislature that is now starting for all purposes will last if the PSOE complies with the agreements reached with JxCat in the negotiation space between both formations. The table between the two parties has a verification mechanism and must meet for the first time before the end of November. “We respect the agreements we reach as long as the other party respects them,” Nogueras warned in statements to RAC1.

Likewise, the independence leader wanted to minimize the relevance of the investiture and focus on the negotiation between parties that is included in her agreement for the investiture. “Months ago we started negotiations that continue today, and Sánchez’s investiture is just one of the points of the agreement we have signed,” she stated.

In turn, Junts sources point out that “the moment of truth has arrived” and that “the negotiation begins now,” which is the most important thing for the formation of Carles Puigdemont.

“We have not signed any legislative agreement,” these sources recall, adding that “if there are no agreements in the negotiation space, there will not be any in Congress,” they add.

In the first meeting of this new forum, according to Nogueras, JxCat will demand from the socialists that Catalonia be excluded from the organic law on Financing of the Autonomous Communities (Lofca) and have a unique financing mechanism and be able to collect 100% of the taxes. The other issue that will be put on the table is the holding of a referendum on independence through article 92 of the Constitution.

Puigdemont, for his part, remained silent yesterday in relation to the investiture and the only thing he said in the corridors of the European Parliament, at the request of TVE, was that Nogueras had expressed his party’s position “very well.”
