This past Thursday, Seville experienced a historic event, being a rich city surrounded by a great musical heritage. For the first time in its 24-year history, the Latin Grammy Awards left the United States and landed at the Fibes Palace of Congresses and Exhibitions in the Andalusian capital, with a party worthy of great occasions. A party that would start with a spectacular performance by the great emerging figure of recent years.
Rosalía captivated those present in the venue and the entire world, kicking off the ceremony with a performance of Se nos roto el amor, one of the most recognized songs in Rocío Jurado’s career. A tribute to flamenco music, the main inspiration for her debut album, El mal qué; which already accumulates millions of views and reactions on social networks such as YouTube or Instagram, where the Catalan wanted to thank her for the effort.
“Yesterday I sang in Seville surrounded by the best musicians and excited. Thanks to Rocío for being an inspiration from day 1 and to Manuel Alejandro for this wonderful composition, and Jesús Bola for arranging it like this. Thank you Latin Grammys for the opportunity! I leave wanting to stay, but Seville I know I will return to you soon” published the native of Sant Esteve Sesrovires. Her message has more than 1 million likes and a multitude of positive responses.
“Rosalía, my girl, yesterday your love would be broken, but half the world of us who say I love you, you broke our hearts into a thousand pieces,” Manuel Alejandro himself wrote in one of the featured comments. “Incredible, you did a performance solely and exclusively for yourself. Your version, your feeling, and your way of expressing yourself. A beautiful and very worthy version,” highlighted another user, in an endless range of support and gratitude towards the singer.
His performance was one of the most talked about at the gala, and some followers and regulars in the world of the heart wanted to interpret this Se nos fue el amor as a hint to his ex-partner Rauw Alejandro. The Puerto Rican singer also took the stage to sing live, in this case Laura Pausini’s Se fue, another song that many interpreted as an encrypted message. Even so, the artist spent a good night in Seville.
“Rosalía gave everything with her team, she was there. During the gala we did not see a single shot of her in the audience and we wondered if she had left,” said Giovanna González in Vamos a ver, Telecinco’s morning show presented by Joaquín Prat. Despite all these speculations, no media found instances of both singers interacting at the event.
