There is already a new queen of universal beauty. Sheynnis Palacios, the representative of Nicaragua, has just written a new page in the history of Miss Universe. In a night full of glamour, this charismatic competitor, only 23 years old, has shown that beauty goes far beyond appearance, conquering the coveted title and leaving an indelible mark with her social values.
The José Adolfo Pineda Arena in El Salvador was the scene of the triumph of Palacios, a Nicaraguan with a career in mass communication and a passion for animals, over 89 other competitors from different countries. The victory was not only a personal achievement for Palacios, but also a moment of national pride for Nicaragua, which for the first time in the history of the competition has been proclaimed the winner.
In a close final, Palacios faced Anntonia Porsild, from Thailand, and Moraya Wilson, from Australia, who took the titles of first and second runner-up, respectively. The coronation, by R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss Universe 2022 of the United States, was a moment full of emotion.
Hours before the final, Palacios shared an emotional message on her Instagram, dedicating her participation to her childhood self and to all the girls who dream of achieving great goals.
Palacios is not just a pretty face. Behind his bright smile there is a story of improvement and dedication. Raised in the capital of Nicaragua, Palacios had to face great difficulties. Her mother emigrated in search of better job opportunities, leaving her in charge of the financial support of her grandmother and her little brother. During this time, she became involved in the family sandwich business to finance her studies, demonstrating an entrepreneurial and sacrificial spirit.
On the other hand, he has a great commitment to social causes. When asked which woman she would choose to one day live in her skin, Palacios chose Mary Wollstonecraft, a prominent advocate of women’s rights in the 18th century. In this sense, he assured that “there is no limit for women” and defended salary equity between men and women.
In addition to her success in the pageant world, Palacios has been open about her personal struggles with mental health, using her position to promote understanding and support for these important issues. Her project Understand Your Mind is an example of how she has used her voice to positively influence the lives of other women who may be having a hard time.
