Cáritas Valencia has denounced the attempt to burn alive a homeless person this past morning in the city of Valencia, specifically in the vicinity of the City of Justice. The diocesan entity has condemned this incident, which they claim goes “against the fundamental values ??of compassion and respect for human life.”

The events occurred around 5:30 a.m. this Friday and, after learning of what happened, crews from the municipal Fire Department and a patrol from the National Police went to the scene.

Apparently, the homeless person was sleeping and, at one point, he realized that all his belongings, which were next to him in a cart, were on fire. When the police officers arrived, the man was “perfectly.”

The National Police, for its part, has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of what happened, including whether the fire was set, as investigation sources have confirmed to Europa Press.

From Cáritas Valencia, via social networks, they have expressed their “firm condemnation” of “the attempt to burn alive a homeless man” and have assured that this act “goes against the fundamental values ??of compassion and respect for the human life”.

“No person deserves to suffer such inhuman violence and it is imperative that society unite. It is time to show solidarity and work together to build a society where the respect and dignity of each person are the priority,” they stressed.

In this sense, they have taken the opportunity to emphasize that the entity’s work with homeless people “demonstrates that homelessness is not a personal choice” and have warned that these people “need solutions and alternatives to living on the street ” so that these types of actions “do not happen again.”
