The shipowner Fernando Fernández Tapias died on October 25, leaving not only his family devastated, but also the dozens of people who worked at his service. Last Monday, November 13, a funeral mass took place in Madrid in memory of him.
However, now that the businessman’s widow and children already have access to the last will and testament of the former first vice president of Real Madrid, the tension has only grown by the minute, with obituary war included. Even more so since the businessman’s eldest children remembered the reason for the legal battle of his father, who was “partially incapacitated” in 2020.
A sad family scenario that is only the prelude to what is to come. According to journalists Isabel González, Beatriz Cortázar and Carlos Pérez Gimeno in EsRadio, the businessman’s last wishes could include some surprises.
“Death arrives and from now on the truce of incapacitation, which was basically what was established by the judge while he was alive, has ended and the question now is: Has Florentino convinced the children who fought for incapacitation and they got it, to make an agreement with Nuria and her two children, or not? If not, he has convinced them that he will spend a lot on lawyers,” said Federico Jiménez Losantos in his program.
The children of Fernando Fernández Tapias, in addition, issued a harsh statement a few days ago in which they clarified several of the information that has been published so far. Among others, explaining the reason for the incapacitation process of his father, “that he then found himself with an evident deterioration in his cognitive capacity, with the sole purpose of protecting his interests and his assets.”
According to Tapias’ children, as they explain in the statement, this entire process could not be understood without understanding the state of the businessman, who apparently suffered from cognitive impairment that “carried with it the need to give him protection.”
This statement also denounced the “repeated” ban on the shipowner’s children and grandchildren from being able to establish contact with him, blaming the businessman’s widow for the estrangement between all of them.
At the moment, the widow of Fernando Fernández Tapias has not commented on the statement issued by the businessman’s eldest children, but she does seem to have reacted to this movement. She has done so with a visit from her lawyers, who went to the businesswoman’s house, where she resides with her two children, Iván and Alma, also heirs of the shipowner.
The inheritance will probably reopen more wounds than already exist. In 2021, Fernández-Tapias was considered one of the richest in the country with a net worth of more than 100 million euros.
