Shakira has been very happy this weekend after winning three Latin Grammys at a gala that was held in Seville and where she attended with her children. An important and emotional day that has been marred by the singer’s appointment with justice this Monday at the Barcelona Court. Smiling, the Colombian came to leave a few minutes later having signed an agreement with the Treasury.

Despite having assured on several occasions that she was willing to prove her innocence until the end, the artist has preferred to agree to pay a fine of 7.3 million euros to avoid the three years in prison of the sentence she has accepted. After this, there have been many who have wanted to contribute their point of view, among them Alessandro Lequio.

The program Let’s See has addressed the topic of Shakira and the count has been one of those who have been most effusive when commenting on it. “It shocks me. From the first day, Shakira and her lawyers had to be more than clear about whether or not she was outside of Spain for more than 180 days. It didn’t get to this point,” said the collaborator.

With this, he wanted to put on the table that the singer might not have had everything tied up, because otherwise she would have gone for it. “It smells to me like she was bluffing and she had to bite the bullet,” she stated bluntly.

“An important thing. It is not just paying and moving on with my life, it is assuming that you have committed a crime, that you are a fraudster and having a criminal record for up to 5 years, which will be erased if you have not committed any crime,” he said. Joaquín Prat wanted to add, after the words of Alessandro Lequio.

But the count has not stopped there. He has stated that any “normal” person may find it difficult to prove his innocence, “but a person like Shakira has it easier because with a simple magazine she can prove whether she was in Zaragoza or Alaska,” he said.

And in order to exemplify everything, he wanted to present his case. And the count was accused of an alleged tax crime. “But at all times I was clear about my innocence, I was very clear that I did not commit fraud. I went to the death and won,” he said. Something that cost him 17 years of fighting.

And this is exactly what Shakira wanted to avoid. “I have to choose my battles and the most important one for me now is to do everything so that my children live a full life and focus on what is really important: watching them grow and spending time with them, without subjecting them to the anguish of seeing their mother in a criminal trial with the wear and tear that it entails,” the Colombian said in a statement.
