There has been no Valencian surprise in the new executive of Pedro Sánchez, in a Valencian key. Diana Morant will continue as Minister of Science in addition to adding the management of Universities. The former mayor of Gandía thus confirms her good harmony with the Spanish president, who keeps her in her position and also expands her powers. Morant thus becomes the only representative of the PSPV in the new Council of Ministers.

Diana Morant (Gandía, Valencia, 1980), Telecommunications engineer and vocational politician, came to the Government to replace the astronaut, Pedro Duque, in July 2021, from the mayor’s office of her hometown, and has been one of the youngest ministers of the previous Sánchez Government. A descendant of a family linked to the PSOE, she made her debut in politics in 2011 as a socialist councilor in the Gandía City Council.

There has also been no surprise in the case of Ximo Puig. Despite the expectation, the general secretary of the PSPV, regional deputy and senator has not been called by Sánchez to be part of the new political project in this legislature. His name had been raised a lot these days as a possible person in charge of the Public Administration portfolio due to his plural and federal vision of Spain.
