Last Thursday, November 16, the 2023 Latin Grammy gala was held in Seville. The event brought together hundreds of famous artists from all over the planet, who excitedly attended the most important event in Hispanic music.

It should be noted that this was the first time that the gala was held in our territory, but it was also the first time that it was held in the United States, so there was a lot of expectation about how Spain would host the event.

Although Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro inevitably became the protagonists of the night with their performances of heartbreak (the Catalan performed Se nos roto el amor by Rocío Jurado and the one from Puerto Rico paid tribute to Laura Pausini with a version of Se Fue) there were others figures that caught the attention of the general public.

This was the case of Pablo Alborán. The singer of Only you, The same air, Where is the love or Saturno was one of the most sought after of the night, as he was nominated for five awards: Best song of the year for Amigos, Best pop song for Contigo, Best vocal album pop for The fourth sheet, Best recording for Carretera y manta and Best album of the year for The fourth sheet.

”Family, I just got the news that we have 5 nominations for the Latin Grammys. “I am super excited, very grateful considering the number of artists and the pieces of songs that come out weekly, that they continue to remember my music after 13 years…”, expressed the artist upon learning of his possibilities in the awards.

However, the acclaimed Andalusian artist failed to break the ‘curse’ and left the gala without any prize. The singer holds the title of being the Spanish artist with the most nominations in the history of these awards, but the strongest thing is that he has not won a single statuette of the 29 possible.

In his last concert, Orozco wanted to make his opinion clear about the fact that his professional partner does not have a Grammy. ”I’m not much of a contrarian, I decided a long time ago to be at peace with myself and almost never say what I think, but today I can’t help it,” he began by saying.

The Catalan explained to his audience that for him Alborán is the best artist of the decade and that his songs always stand out for their good quality, which is why he does not understand the lack of recognition: ”To all the people and ears of the academy, Are we deaf?”
