The Local Police of Logroño will begin this coming Monday to sanction double lines, parking in inappropriate areas – such as pedestrian streets – and the misuse of bicycles and scooters. This was announced this Wednesday by the spokesperson for the municipal government team, Celia Sanz, who gave an account of what she called “road discipline campaign.”
In this sense, he explained that “the Local Police has express instructions to begin sanctioning in very specific areas, where it has been observed that double lines, the use of loading and unloading to park improperly or there are parking areas that are used as parking but are pedestrianized.
Likewise, he has pointed out that “the cameras will be reactivated in some areas, for example, such as the Hundred Stores” to control traffic, as well as “speed control will be carried out, placing great emphasis, for example, on the Gran Via”.
Sanz added that “loading and unloading will also be controlled mainly in the Old Town, not only due to improper parking, but also so that its use is at the scheduled time, that is, by 1 p.m., that loading and unloading discharge must be released”.
Among the specific spaces where action is planned, the spokesperson for the municipal Executive has mentioned, in addition to Gran Vía, Pérez Galdós street; or the Plaza de la Vendimia, “which is an area that is being used as parking when it cannot be used”; or the Plaza de la Paz, “where we have discovered that, indeed, on a recurring basis, people park when it is not an authorized place.”
And to all this will also be added a campaign for correct driving of vehicles, “but with sanctions” when it comes to using bicycles and scooters, after it has been carried out for a few 20 days, as Sanz recalled, an information campaign in this sense.
There is no specific deadline for this campaign to develop, beyond its start next Monday, “we don’t have it scheduled now, it will depend a little on how we see the results, maybe what is being done is changing zones periodically “concluded the municipal spokesperson.
