The Minister of Economy, Finance and Employment of the Community of Madrid, Rocío Albert, was concerned this Tuesday at the Europe Forum in case the central government modifies fiscal autonomy “from behind” and warned that “they will have to do it through a modification of the Constitution,” Servimedia reports.
Albert indicated, in an informative meeting organized by Nueva Economía Fórum in Madrid, that “we have fiscal autonomy recognized in the Constitution,” which is why he asked that “institutions and the rule of law continue to prevail.”
“Given that they are willing to make an amnesty law, how can I not be concerned about the modification of fiscal autonomy,” he said, and insisted that “if they want to modify that fiscal autonomy, they are going to have to do it through a modification of the Constitution.” and not by Organic Law”. “Not from behind,” she reproached.
In that sense, he referred to the “Wealth Tax, misnamed Solidarity Tax”, which in his opinion was imposed “behind.” “It was presented to us as a temporary tax and they are already talking about it not being temporary, it cannot be that a temporary tax suddenly becomes eternal,” he criticized.
Albert also defended his tax model since “low taxes generate more revenue.” In this way, he celebrated foreign investment in the region and stated that “the worst thing that human beings experience is uncertainty”, which makes “Madrid a reference” for “guaranteeing legal certainty and low taxation.”
On the other hand, he called for greater investment in the Madrid Cercanías and regretted that “every day it is more common for many Madrid residents to arrive late for their jobs and obligations.” “It is because correct maintenance is not done,” he argued, and “we want to think that it is not done intentionally.”
“We are sure that the Government of the nation is going to do everything possible to ensure that our Cercanías work correctly,” he stressed, and insisted that “making these investments benefits the Spanish people.”
Likewise, he stated that he would like to have communication with the national Executive and revealed that the Ministry of Economy does not have any type of relationship. “To date I have not received any communication of any kind,” he said, “we have no relationship with the Government of Spain.”
