A mirage is an optical illusion due to the total reflection of light when it passes through layers of air of different density, which causes distant objects to appear closer and inverted.

In this case, the boat not only seems to us to be closer to Cunit beach than it actually is, but it can give us the impression, due to the different shades of the blue color, that it is halfway to the sea and the sky, as we can see in this photograph in La Vanguardia’s Readers’ Photos.

Is the ship sailing through the sky?… We can ask ourselves when contemplating this snapshot in which the blue of the last line of sea, the one that joins the horizon, seems to merge with the clear blue of the sky.

Cunit is one of the summer destinations on the Costa Dorada, located in the Baix Penedès region, but in spring, when the beaches wake up, it also has a special charm.

Cunit borders the towns of Segur de Calafell, Cubelles and Castellet and Gornal, but above all its horizon faces the Mediterranean.
