The PSPV trustee in Les Corts, Rebeca Torró, and the deputy spokesperson Arcadi España have conveyed to the ‘president’ of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, that they are not willing to reach any agreement as long as “it continues to normalize and provide coverage” to Vox and being “hostage” by his government partner, although he has guaranteed that they will continue working for the Valencian agenda at the regional and state level. “He has made it clear to us that Vox is his Government partner,” Torró stressed.

This was the first of the meetings that, upon invitation, the Valencian president wants to hold with the political groups to try to reach agreements to defend the “Valencian agenda” before the Government. Compromís announced yesterday that he was declining the invitation. Vox will meet at noon and tomorrow it will meet with the representatives of the PP in Les Corts Valencianes.

The socialist trustee has stated that “our red line is the extreme right (…) It is he who has to decide what he chooses.” As he explained, the PPCV leader also told them in this “cordial” meeting that he governs with Vox and that “he is his partner”, so they have not reached any agreement nor have they scheduled future meetings. Faced with this, he has insisted that “the first step” and “the zero agreement” that Mazón should adopt is to not continue “covering” Vox’s positions against “respect and coexistence.”

It is something that has been linked to the protests in front of the socialist headquarters with the participation of Vox representatives or with the initiatives presented by this group in Les Corts in which they are branded as “coup plotters” or defend xenophobic positions. “This coverage of the extreme right does not help us sit down and debate,” he said.

Regarding the points discussed at the meeting, the trustee highlighted regional financing or the expansion of the port of Valencia, on which according to her the PSPV has a very clear position. Regarding debt forgiveness, he told Mazón that “his partners are not in favor.”

Regarding gender violence, he has assured that it has not been addressed and has reiterated that the PPCV “normalizes certain situations” regarding Vox’s position by not recognizing this scourge. Furthermore, he recalled that he was “the first in Spain” to reach an agreement with Abascal’s men while “it cost the mayor of Valencia a little more.”

Asked if there is an approach for the renewal of statutory bodies with expired mandates, Torró acknowledged that Mazón has offered it to her, but has insisted that the “zero point” of the agreements must be not to normalize Vox.

For all these reasons, as to whether he sees the meeting as a failure, he has called to “see what” Mazón thinks of the PSPV offer. In any case, he has emphasized that “no one should question” that the PSPV will continue working for the Valencian agenda, for which he sent a letter to the new ministers about the needs of the Community.

For its part, the Presidency of the Generalitat has reported that the meeting has addressed “fundamental issues for the Valencian Community” such as regional financing, the Water Table, the expansion of the port of Valencia, the General State Budgets, the renovation of the statutory bodies, Valencian civil law and the ceramic sector.
