Agents of the Canine Unit of the Local Police of the Alicante City Council arrested a 20-year-old Swedish citizen at the bus station on Saturday for the alleged commission of a crime against public health and another of illegal possession of weapons after seizing 10 bales with 19.5 kilos of marijuana and another with half a kilo of a substance that could be cocaine, in addition to a semi-automatic weapon magazine loaded with 15 projectiles and 29 more bullets.
The intervention took place during a stop at the Alicante bus station on the bus that covered the Malaga-Barcelona line. This operation is the fifth that this unit has carried out in just a month and a half, thanks to the sense of smell of two dogs, named Gus and Kata, trained in the detection of narcotics.
A day later, and also with the intervention of Gus, the agents arrested a 32-year-old Belarusian citizen at the same station who had deposited a large backpack in one of the lobby lockers, inside which five bags of marijuana were found. and one more with hashish.
Once again, the participation of the dog from the canine unit Gus was decisive in locating the narcotic substances that the detainee was hiding in a backpack that he carried with him on board the bus and in a suitcase and another sports backpack inside the luggage rack of the vehicle.
With these two operations there are already five drug interventions in the last month and a half by the canine unit of the Local Police at the bus station, after the stash located last Saturday morning, with the intervention of the dog Kata, who located 11 kilos of marijuana inside a suitcase, which were wrapped with garlic, spices and bleach. The agents arrested the owner of the suitcase, a passenger on the Algeciras-Barcelona line bus.
A few weeks before, on October 14, the Local Police intercepted 56.2 kilos of hashish and marijuana on the line between Almería and Romania; and on the 28th of the same month, the agents located with the help of Kata another stash with 13.6 kilos of marijuana buds.
