A helicopter with two people on board crashed this morning in the middle of M-40 in Madrid. Both crew members have survived – one of them injured with a slight head injury and the other with a possible femur fracture – and a driver who was traveling on the road has suffered very minor cuts from glass. “The drama would have been much worse if it had not been for the skill of the pilot,” said the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida. Witnesses to the helicopter accident that crashed this morning in the median of the M-40, near Hortaleza, they have reported how the pilot made maneuvers to avoid falling on the bridge and went under to avoid crashing into the stuck cars at rush hour.
