The musical spring continues its Latin American journey with the celebration of Primavera Sound São Paulo this December weekend, when in the great city of Rio we experience Christmas trees and temperatures that exceed 30 degrees. It will be the second year that the Barcelona festival has landed in the Brazilian city, as it did days ago in Montevideo and Buenos Aires, where it brought together 120,000 people. Soon it will be the turn of Bogotá and Asunción, dates that arrive with the desire to consolidate themselves in the calendar by joining the European ones in Porto and Barcelona. In total, the festival will tour seven countries over three weeks with performances that can also be seen in the Barcelona edition in 2024 such as Róisín Murphy, Dorian Electra or He Killed a Motorized Policeman, some classics of the festival.

Primavera Sound São Paulo will have a top-notch lineup that includes leading figures in music with years of experience behind them, such as The Killers, The Cure and Beck, as well as Pet Shop Boys, who already performed at the last edition in Barcelona. . Along with these totems, artists from all genres will perform, such as the festive and crazy Blessed Madonna, Kelela and her famous soul, or the British Slowdive, godfathers of shoegaze. If last year the venue for the concerts was the central Anhembi fairgrounds, this time the party moves to the Interlagos racetrack, on the outskirts of the city where Ayrton Senna was born and pays tribute.

The four stages will be located on the motorsport circuit where the arrival of more than 100,000 people is expected, a figure similar to last year, when Arctic Monkeys, Björk, Travis Scott, Phoebe Bridges and Lorde could be heard. The new location of Primavera links with the agreement announced days ago by the organizers to celebrate the festival for the next 10 years, reflecting the desire to consolidate the event. For this they have the support of the local administration, a good harmony that Primavera Sound currently maintains with the mother city, leaving behind the disagreements of other editions.

If last year the festival had a large Spanish delegation, this time it is the Brazilian musicians who star in a large landing with names like Marisa Monte, a classic of Brazilian music who has just released new songs. MC Bin Laden and his powerful favela funk will also perform. The Cansei de ser Sexi will play at home, their native São Paulo, offering the mix of rock, pop and electronics that characterizes them, while Filipe Catto will contribute his fusion to encourage the queer collective, which will feature names like Getulio Abelha or Dorian Electra . From Barcelona will arrive Marina Herlop, the experimental artist from Olesa de Montserrat who will present Nekkuja, her latest album, solo. Nor should we forget the strong link between the festival and the Argentine He Killed a Motorized Police, present on a poster with a strong guitar presence with the fast-paced rock of the Swedes The Hives, the hardcore of the legendary Off! or the math rock of the British Black midi.

As a complement, São Paulo will also experience its own Spring in the City (Na Cidade, in this case), with performances in various venues by artists such as Black Midi, Seun Kuti, Róisín Murphy or Metric, a musical pack that turns out so well received by the public as it was in the last edition, guarantees Spring for years in Brazil.
