“There are many people who work hard to overcome personal challenges, create a
better community for others, etc…and they deserve to be recognized for it,”
states Monica Davis the shows host and creator. “Not only should they be
acknowledged, but I believe that sharing their stories can have a positive
impact on others with similar challenges and goals."
Interviews with the show’s guests are from a candid and personal viewpoint and
the viewer hears about the lives, successes, personal triumphs, dedication and
contributions of these people first hand.
Previous guests have included a young man who despite being born with cerebral
palsy has achieved a great amount of personal independence and is beginning a
speaking career and starting his own business to help others, and a woman who
has devoted her life after retiring to lifting the spirits and improving the
quality of life for those who have been faced with some of life’s most
challenging obstacles.
After appearing as a guest and commentator on other shows in the Washington D.C.
metro area, Ms. Davis’ interest in television piqued and she saw an opportunity
to make a much more powerful impact on the lives of people and began to pursue
television as her main medium to transmit her inspiring message. She received
technical training in the field of television and is now serving her second year
on the Board of Directors at Arlington Community Television a non-profit
organization.
Ms. Davis adds, “The television medium has afforded me unlimited creative ways
in which to reach the masses and hopefully provide them a source from which they
can become inspired to make positive changes in their lives."
Davis herself is a model for achievement. The youngest of 10 children, her
parents taught her to be motivated, focused and determined. Working as a
computer professional by night, by day she earned her bachelor's degree in
Management Information Systems, and has earned certifications in the computer
field. She has also traveled around the world with two U.S. Secretaries of
State. In 1998, she self-published the book, “On the Receiving End: A Collection
of Works for Realizing the Potential Within Ourselves”. And plans to release two
more books in the near future.
